Morgan Burnett In The Fold By This Weekend?
Unlike Atari Bigby, it sounds like Morgan Burnett will be signing his contract soon. Per Kareem Copeland of the Green Bay Press Gazette, Burnett’s agent, Robert Brown, said “negotiations are going well and the two parties are not that far apart.” More from Brown:
“Before this week is out is a possibility of the deal possibly being done,” Brown said. “You’re just trying to make sure your guy gets all he’s entitled to based on the numbers that are floating around.”
Delving into the quote from Burnett’s agent, it would appear that a deal is…well, possible.
During OTAs and mini camp, the rookie out of Georgia Tech has lined up with the first-team defense in the absence of Atari Bigby. Burnett’s play has been receiving high praise from his teammates, including reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Charles Woodson:
…if he [Burnett] is to play in there, we’ll carry him as long as we can until he’s up to speed but, (shoot), he’s good. He looks good to me, you know. Now it’s just a matter of experience getting into a game and getting a feel of it and playing at this level. So we’ll see what happens when he’s thrown in the fire.”
Based off the last line of his quote, I wonder if Charles Woodson invited Burnett to Harbor Bay, Michigan this past weekend?
