See Pitts Run

Judd Zulgad reports that the Minnesota Vikings, along with four other teams, will be on hand to watch free agent offensive lineman Chester Pitts work out today in Arizona.

Pitts was a second-round pick (#50 overall) of the Houston Texans in 2002. He started every game of his first 7 seasons in the NFL. However, last year, the former San Diego State walk-on injured his right knee in the second game of the season and has spent the offseason recovering and rehabbing from microfracture surgery.

Mike Wobschall of Vikings.com believes Pitts would be a welcomed addition to the Minnesota offensive line.

Although the Vikings have been coy regarding their potential interest in Pitts, there’s no question in my mind that, if healthy, Pitts would be a good addition to this roster. He would provide a solid veteran presence, depth behind starter Anthony Herrera at RG and he could even push for a starting spot somewhere along the line.

If Pitts can prove he’s healthy, I don’t see a downside to signing the proven veteran either. If he has a good workout today, expect Pitts to sign on the dotted line soon and be ready to go for the start of training camp. Whose training camp Pitts attends remains to be seen.
