Kurt Warner Speaks His Truth On Aaron Rodgers

September 9, 2010

Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner knows a thing or two about completing passes to wide receivers. In fact, he holds the NFL record for the highest completion percentage in a single game. Given his history, when Warner speaks about accuracy, I listen. And when he speaks about Aaron Rodgers, I write.

“I think one of the things that always separates a great quarterback is his ability to throw a lot of different passes from a lot of different places,” Warner said on NFL Network’s NFL Total Access. “That’s one of the things that I’ve noticed when I’ve watched Rodgers over the last couple of seasons. He does it as well as anyone in the league.”

Warner also said that what separates Rodgers is his accuracy under any conditions.

“Rodgers has the ability (to make throws) while his feet are pointing in different directions, while pressure is coming from a certain side, and while moving in and out of the pocket. He possesses quick enough feet where he can move in the pocket, adjust and throw … and he can do it all accurately. This day and age, accuracy from a quarterback is rare. I talk about true accuracy — the ability to put the ball where it needs to be to give the receiver a chance.”

Warner went on to say that Rodgers has a knack for making the big plays and “the throws no one else can.” But people who argue against Rodgers’ greatness cite the fact he hasn’t even won a playoff game. My response? Let’s talk after this season’s over.

Regardless of whether or not you think Aaron Rodgers deserves to be in the same conversation as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Brett Favre, it should be a fun season watching him lead a high-powered Packers offense.

Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback to EVER touch a football. He will be better than Brett by a long shot, no question the most reliable QB in the league!
