Percy Harvin Active, Albert Young Inactive

September 19, 2010

The Minnesota Vikings announced their inactive list for today’s game home-opener against the Miami Dolphins. (Via Vikings.com Blog)

QB Joe Webb (3rd QB), CB Cedric Griffin, CB Chris Cook, RB Albert Young, G Chris DeGeare, DT Jimmy Kennedy, TE Mickey Shuler, and DE Everson Griffen.

Percy Harvin, who was listed as questionable with a hip bruise, will play. However, Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN – Twin Cities noted that Harvin was “favoring his right side” during warm ups. My guess is Harvin will play. With only 4 wide receivers on the roster, I expect Harvin to play early and often.

Joe Webb is technically inactive, but since he is listed as the 3rd quarterback, he will suit up and could enter the game in an emergency. However, if Webb were to enter the game, the #1 and #2 quarterbacks would not be allowed to return to the game.

One surprise on the inactive list is running back Albert Young. Young saw action against the Saints last week, but the decision to sit Young probably speaks more to the coaches confidence in rookie Toby Gerhart than it does about Young’s ability. And for Brett Favre’s sake, let’s hope the rookie nails his blitz pick ups. If Gerhart blinks, don’t expect Favre to throw his 500th touchdown pass today.

Game on.
