Packers’ Injuries Forcing Roster Moves

October 13, 2010

The Packers brought in 5 linebackers for a workout yesterday adding to the speculation that the team may be leaning towards season-ending injured-reserve for Nick Barnett. Barnett will undergo wrist surgery on Wednesday, but the team remains undecided on whether or not shut down the linebacker for the season. The team may be waiting to find out how surgery goes before making a final decision.

In the meantime, Bill Huber of Packer Report writes that the Packers have signed former University of Kansas standout Mike Rivera to their practice squad. Rivera was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2009, but spent that offseason with the Tennessee Titans. The 6-2, 252 pound linebacker did not make any team’s roster this summer.

To make room on the practice squad for Rivera, the team released linebacker Johnny Robinson.

Keep an eye on the Packers roster this week. It’s safe to assume we’ll be seeing more changes from a team that has already suffered multiple injuries to their starting players.
