“Not Much Progress” For Percy Harvin’s Ankle

November 5, 2010

The Minnesota Vikings may be without star wideout Percy Harvin this weekend. Harvin did not practice for a second consecutive day on Thursday and according to media reports, Harvin was “limping noticeably” after the walkthrough portion of practice. The team will release its final injury report after Friday’s practice, but when asked about Harvin’s ankle, head coach Brad Childress did not sound very optimistic.

“Not much progress,” Childress said of Harvin’s ankle. “We’ll see if he can do anything [Friday].”

With Randy Moss no longer on the team, the Vikings are looking forward to the return of Sidney Rice. Childress said he does not know when Rice will be back on the field, but he “most probably” will not play this week.

With a lack of healthy receivers, the Vikings may be forced to get back to basics and pound the ball on the ground Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. For a team that features All Pro running back Adrian Peterson, smash-mouth football may not be such a bad thing. After watching Peterson single-handedly carry his team down the field on the team’s opening drive against the Patriots last week, I would say Peterson is up to the challenge.
