Vikings Punter Chris Kluwe: Renaissance Man

December 2, 2010

In Wednesday’s Minneapolis Star Tribune, Chip Scoggins put together a fantastic piece on the Vikings’ sixth-year punter, Chris Kluwe. In the article, “Vikings’ Kluwe does everything to his own beat“, Scoggins documents the “eclectic” punters past.

Just to give you a sneak-peak, Kluwe aced the verbal portion of his SAT test, turned down Harvard, and stayed in his homestate to play football at UCLA. It has worked out well for Vikings fans as Kluwe has blossomed into one of the league’s top punters, but his mother was not all that happy with her son’s decision to forgo one of the world’s top schools.

Take the time to read the whole article; you won’t be disappointed. And if you’re ever in need of a laugh, check out Kluwe’s twitter page where he provides daily humor. And with his photos and updates on the Vikings’ locker room’s swear jar, he’s quickly becoming one of my favorite players to follow.
