Cullen Jenkins Ready To Go

January 6, 2011

The Green Bay Packers’ rush defense has sorely missed Cullen Jenkins. A calf injury has kept the defensive end out of the lineup since the week 11, but the 7th year player out of Central Michigan returned to practice Wednesday and, barring a setback, will lineup this Sunday against the Eagles.

“You always want to be out there and helping any way you can,” Jenkins said. “The defense has been doing a great job while I’ve been out. It’s something where I’ll come in — I don’t know how much I’ll play — but I’ll just try to help out the team as much as possible.”

Jenkins presence will most likely benefit nose tackle B.J. Raji and outside linebacker Clay Matthews the most. The pair of 2009 first-round draft choices have seen more double-teams in Jenkins’ absence. Raji is excited to have his teammate back on the field.

“Cullen’s one of our best pass rushers,” Raji said. “Sometimes centers put their protection or focus on you as opposed to doubling someone like ‘Jenks’ in there. Now it’s kind of tough to do that.”

Jenkins, Raji, and Matthews will do their best to slow down Michael Vick and the Eagles in Philadelphia this weekend. The matchup begins at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon.
