Leslie Frazier Tells Bevell and Murphy “Don’t Wait For Me”

January 10, 2011

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier is still determining who will help lead his 2011 Minnesota Vikings. Those plans may or may not include holdovers from the Brad Childress era, but it’s becoming more apparent that Frazier is leaning towards bringing in some fresh faces.

Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500 – Twin Cities reports that Frazier told offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and special teams coordinator Brian Murphy that they are free to look for other jobs as their future in Minnesota is decided.

“We’re trying to get some things done,” said Frazier. “We’ll make some decisions here real soon.”

Although Frazier’s comments were somewhat cryptic, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk interpreted the statements as meaning that Frazier “will soon be hiring a new offensive coordinator, and a new special-teams coordinator.”

The Vikings interviewed former Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels last week but there has been no word from either camp on a decision. Sports Illustrated’s Peter King contends that “Frazier would really like to hire” McDaniels, but nothing is imminent.

Now this oughtta be interesting. Bevell should go. I was also happy that they dropped the O Line coach. Everything about that offensive line needs reworking. Questions, now, about other things. First, can they get Vick? They should get Vick. Think it’s possible? I don’t, but I’m holdin’ out.

Secondly, McDaniels? I dunno. I don’t like his personality. The fact that he had to get rid of two players because of ‘personality conflicts’ reminds me too much of Chilly. Someone also made the comment that McDaniels would probably end up going to KC which is the NE of the West. No doubt in my mind that they’ll try to get him.

So, think we can get Vick?

I can’t imagine the Eagles letting go of Vick. The Vikes probably have a better shot at his backup, Kevin Kolb.

Yeah, I dunno. Reid seemed pretty set on Kolb. But actually, Kolb is a pretty good QB in his own right from what we saw. I’d not pass on him.

About Vick I was hoping we’d steal him. I heard that he was going to NE a free agent, but didn’t Kolb get franchised by The Eagles?

Kolb is still under contract for another year, and reportedly the Eagles want an outrageous price in trade for him (I’ve heard two first-round picks). The thought is that the Eagles would franchise Vick, but who knows what will happen with the franchise tag in the new CBA. It may have to be one of the concessions the owners sacrifice in order to get the 18-game season they desire.
