Leslie Frazier’s first offseason as Vikings’ head coach is not starting out very well. According to the University of Southern California’s student newspaper The Daily Trojan, former Trojan and current Viking, Everson Griffen was arrested Monday afternoon.

Police officers were performing a traffic stop at the intersection of 30th and Hoover Streets when they pulled Griffen over. He did not have a valid I.D. on him and became aggressive when questioned by officers, according to an LAPD spokesperson. Griffen attempted to run away and then assaulted one of the officers who was pursuing him. The officers tased Griffen, then arrested him on a charge of felony battery.

The Los Angeles Times dug deeper into the story, writing that Griffen allegedly told officers “he did not want to go back to jail” before attempting to run away.

Tom Pelissero of ESPN – Twin Cities points out that a video made by former USC coach Pete Carroll for April Fool’s Day in 2008 doesn’t seem to be as funny in light of Griffen’s actual arrest.
