Guess Who Sponsors Jordy Nelson?
It’s no secret that companies like Nike and Under Armour pay out exorbitant amounts of cash to athletes in exchange for sporting their gear. In fact, athletes often make more money in sponsorship deals than they do playing their sport.
Given all the big name sponsors out there, I applaud the little guy for hauling in a Super Bowl champion. True to his humble Kansas roots, Packers’ wide receiver Jordy Nelson isn’t signing a deal with the Reeboks or the Head and Shoulders of the world. Instead, Nelson will work with Service Motor Company in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.
How did this deal come about? Russell Plummer of the Fall Reporter explains:
Nelson’s endorsement deal began when he called Service Motor to purchase equipment for his family’s farm in Kansas…Nelson will be making guest appearances and will be part of advertisements. He is a customer of Service Motor.
I suppose that’s one of the perks of being a Packer and winning the Super Bowl. You walk into a local businesses, and they tell you, “Take whatever you want. In fact, why don’t we give you some money!”
Not a bad gig, if you can get it.
