Aaron Rodgers Held Out Of Practice With Foot Strain

August 29, 2011

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters he held Aaron Rodgers out of practice Monday due to a foot strain that “flared up” on the quarterback this morning. McCarthy did not rule out Rodgers playing in Thursday’s preseason game, but said he was simply being conservative with his signal caller.

Just being cautious,” McCarthy said. “If it was up to him, he would have practiced today. I’m just being smart with him.”

The Packers head coach said his entire “team is beat up right now,” but noted that none of his players’ injuries is overly serious.

“These are not major injuries,” McCarthy told reporters. “I don’t see any of these players being out for an extended period of time.”

Judging from McCarthy’s comments, it doesn’t sound as if Rodgers or any of his offensive playmakers are in any danger of missing the season opener against the New Orleans Saints on September 8.
